7-19-2004 - We added a site search function to help some who like searches instead of browsing a list. It is is available to the right of the menu at the top and bottom of every page. It is an imperfect solution as it does not find everything, but will suffice for now. The BEST WAY to see if something is in our lists is to browse the lists. See Search Tips for further information.
The large and slow loading Pioneer lists have been removed and replaced with much smaller ones. The new manuals listing page format (including an inline Current Notes" window) can be seen on the Accuphase and ADC pages. Many more to be done very soon.
7-12-2004 - Additional changes to the site's main menu were made. More extensive use of sub-navigation menus are being designed and put to use. In our mind (we hope yours too), the whole site is shaping up and turning into something we can be proud of instead of ashamed of.
(Finally - As previous visitors can see...) The entire Manuals and Other Stuff For Sale section is being completely rewritten and updated to include all companies for which we have any literature. All old pages are being converted to an identical format that matches all the recent site changes for a totally consistent appearance throughout the site. Several of the new pages will be posted very soon. While this rewrite is in progress, you may run into incorrect or dead links which will be corrected as quickly as possible.
In additional to converting the previous company listing pages, we have about 30,000 additional manuals to add to the lists. All changes and additions are being posted as completed. "ALL" the changes and New Company Listing Pages will be posted as soon as humanly possible!!! Thanks SO MUCH to all who have been patience with the seemingly "long time coming" site changes. AS SOON AS IT IS COMPLETED, WE CAN 100% CONCENTRATE ON RESPONDING TO EMAIL WHICH HAS BEEN OUR #1 "BUG-A-BOO" (and biggest source of personal frustration) FOR A COUPLE YEARS.
7-7-2004 - Additional site consolidation, reorganization and code cleanup was completed a few hours ago and uploaded to our host server. We removed a couple more main menu items and moved them to sub-pages. Overall, sub-page navigation has been improved immensely in my opinion. Several About Us type things and related stuff is now consolidated and accessible from one page. You can find information and pictures about Pioneer's late 70s dealer display rack (which was called, THE RACK). It's in a new About Us page called How StereoManuals got started (Part One).
We created a few pages in the Reference Section and prepared it so that additional content can be added on a semi-regular basis. You can find information about db, power output and Sound Pressure Level in the Sansui SP-5000 Speakers report. Do you wish you knew the Pioneer Manufacturing Date of your Pioneer gear? Go to the Reference Section. I've also begun a page with a handy list of Sources for Service of those who perform service and/or provide parts for classic gear.
We also removed (hopefully) all the old confusing info that was on several of the manuals lists. The entire Manuals For Sale area will be replaced soon with new pages. We have had a fair number of individual item description pages on the site for quite awhile now, but there were no active links to them. We are finishing up a new cleaner, leaner template page and will begin to post active links to the ones that are available now and then begin adding a lot more. I hope everyone finds the recent changes to be helpful.
We moved a lot of old "please pity us" backlog notices, current events, mail hell explanations, etc. and combined them into one single page in the About Us section and labeled it as an old info page. Go read it only if you need some laughs.
We continue to be extraordinarily behind in customer communications. The past few months have caused us to take a HUGE hit in that area (See the 6-5-2004 Note for further details). Today I begin to FOCUS on replies to inquires and will keep at it. Someone remind me... it was supposed to be a hobby... Keep on hanging in there. We are.
